Hampshire Youth Access (HYA) is a partnership which came together in 2011. We bring together skills and expertise from 12 leading services working in the field of Youth Information, Advice and Counselling.
HYA seeks to share best practice between its partner agencies in order to ensure consistent levels of support for children and young people across Hampshire.
We have successfully delivered a number of projects, including:
This is a counselling service for 18-25 year olds delivered through the Big Lottery Reaching Communities Fund. This project is live now and runs until 2019. It is led by It’s Your Choice in Totton. Subcontractors are The Moving On Project in Fareham, No Limits in Southampton, Winchester Youth Counselling, Youth in Romsey and YPI Counselling in Basingstoke.
Right 2B Safe
This project focused on children’s safeguarding issues e.g. Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), neglect and abuse, and was part of a national project with funding going to Youth Access from the Department of Education for two years from 2013 – 2015. The Hampshire project placed five workers across the county: in Breakout Youth working with LGBT young people county wide; It’s Your Choice in Totton; No Limits in Southampton; Off The Record in Havant, and in Step by Step in Aldershot.
Young People In Mind
This was a one year project, funded by Youth Access via the Department for Education, providing counselling for vulnerable young people particularly 16 to 19 year olds, at key transition points – leaving care, leaving home, moving from school to college, finding a first job.
